This policy explains how Tanjung Delima collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal data. It is written in plain language and is intended to be read, not filed away.
1. Who we are
Tanjung Delima is a finance education centre based at Jalan Pasir Puteh 47, 31650 Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia. We offer structured learning programmes to individuals in their 40s and beyond who wish to improve their understanding of personal finance, EPF withdrawal, and succession planning.
For the purposes of Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA), Tanjung Delima is the data user. Our contact for data-related matters is: [email protected].
2. What personal data we collect
We collect only what is necessary to deliver and support our programmes. This includes:
- Your name, email address, and phone number — provided when you contact us or enrol in a programme
- Your billing and payment information — processed securely to complete enrolment; we do not store card details ourselves
- Programme progress and participation data — used to track completion and support learners during a course
- One-to-one session notes — where you share financial details during a scheduled session with a licensed professional; these are treated with particular care
- Correspondence — emails and messages you send us, retained so we can respond accurately
- Website usage data — collected via cookies, as described in our Cookie Policy
We do not collect sensitive personal data (such as identity card numbers, income figures, or EPF account balances) unless you provide them voluntarily during a programme session, and we treat any such information with heightened care.
3. How we use your personal data
We use the data we collect for the following purposes:
- To process your enrolment and manage your access to course materials
- To communicate with you about your programme, including scheduling, updates, and course-related questions
- To arrange and record one-to-one or combined professional sessions
- To send you notifications of material updates to programmes you have completed, where content has changed due to regulatory changes
- To improve our courses based on learner feedback
- To comply with legal obligations, including record-keeping requirements
We do not use your personal data for automated decision-making or profiling. We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your contact details to market financial products or services.
4. Legal basis for processing
Under the PDPA 2010, we process your personal data on the following bases:
- Contract performance — where processing is necessary to deliver the programme you have enrolled in
- Legitimate interests — where we have a reasonable need to process data (for example, to improve our courses or communicate about material updates), balanced against your rights
- Consent — where we have obtained your agreement, for example in relation to optional communications or cookie usage
- Legal obligation — where we are required to retain records by Malaysian law
5. Who we share your data with
We share your data only where necessary:
- Licensed professionals involved in your programme — your name and relevant session context are shared with the financial planner, lawyer, or Shariah-qualified planner who will conduct your one-to-one sessions. These practitioners are subject to their own professional confidentiality obligations.
- Payment processors — your payment information is processed by our payment gateway (FPX / bank transfer). We do not receive or store your full card details.
- Platform and service providers — we use third-party services to host course materials and manage communications. These providers are bound by data processing agreements and may not use your data for their own purposes.
- Legal and regulatory authorities — where required by law or a valid legal process.
We do not share your data with advertisers, data brokers, or financial product providers.
6. How long we keep your data
We retain your data for as long as necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, and no longer:
- Active learner records are retained for the duration of your 12-month course access window, plus one additional year for post-course support purposes
- Payment and financial records are retained for seven years, as required by Malaysian accounting and tax law
- Correspondence is retained for three years unless there is an ongoing matter that requires longer retention
- One-to-one session notes are retained for two years following the session date
After these periods, data is securely deleted or anonymised.
7. Your rights under the PDPA 2010
Under Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010, you have the following rights:
- Right of access — you may request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Right of correction — you may request that inaccurate or incomplete data be corrected
- Right to withdraw consent — where processing is based on your consent, you may withdraw it at any time
- Right to limit processing — you may request that we stop using your data for certain purposes, subject to legal constraints
To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at [email protected] or call +60 5-253 9174. We will respond within 21 days.
8. Security
We take reasonable and appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. These include access controls, encrypted data transmission (HTTPS), and restricted access to session notes.
No online system can be unconditionally secure. If you have concerns about the security of your data, please contact us.
9. Cookies
Our website uses cookies to function correctly and to understand how it is used. A full description of the cookies we use and your options for managing them is available in our Cookie Policy.
