Financial Plan Programme

I had been meaning to write down our financial situation for years but never quite started. The template from this course gave me the structure to do it β€” and the six weeks meant I could work through it properly rather than trying to do everything in a weekend. By the end, my husband and I had a written plan that actually reflected what we want for the next ten years. That is more than I had hoped for.

EPF Strategy Programme

I am 53 and was genuinely uncertain what my EPF options were. Every article I found either oversimplified or assumed I had read several others first. This course explained the Akaun structure clearly and without rushing. The two sessions with Ahmad were what made the difference β€” he looked at my actual situation and helped me think through the timing. I came away with a clear position, which I did not have before.

Succession & Hibah Programme

My late father left no will and it took our family three years to resolve his estate. I enrolled in this course so my children would not face the same. The content on hibah and faraid was very clear and the combined sessions with Nor Radziah helped me understand what applied to our specific circumstances. I now have a succession file my children can find and understand. That was the whole point.

Financial Plan Programme

The course did what it said β€” it helped me write a financial plan. I found the protection review section a little brief for my situation, but the team was responsive when I emailed with additional questions. The printed template is genuinely useful. I have already started the EPF programme and am finding it goes deeper than I expected.

EPF Strategy Programme

I had been given a lot of conflicting advice about when to withdraw from EPF. Some people said take it all at 55, others said defer. This course helped me understand the basis for each position and think through what made sense for my situation. The planner sessions gave me a space to ask specific questions without feeling like I was being sold something. That mattered a lot.

Succession & Hibah Programme

The hibah and wasiat modules were very thorough. I appreciated that the course was honest about the distinction between what can be achieved through hibah and what faraid governs β€” I had seen some explanations online that glossed over this. The 18 weeks felt appropriate for the material. I would have liked slightly more worked examples in the trust section, but overall this is the most careful treatment of the subject I have come across.

Learning Journeys

A closer look at three learner experiences

The Situation

A household with two EPF accounts and no plan

A couple in their late 40s from Ipoh β€” both employed, both contributing to EPF β€” had never sat down together to look at their financial position as a household. They had separate EPF accounts, separate insurance policies, and no written record of their intentions.

The Programme

Financial Plan, followed by EPF Strategy

They completed the Financial Plan programme together, using two sets of login credentials so each could work through the materials independently before combining their notes. The EPF Strategy programme followed six months later, when they were ready to focus on withdrawal timing.

The Outcome

A shared household plan, and a clearer EPF position

By the end of both programmes they had a written household financial plan, a joint review schedule, and β€” following the planner sessions β€” a clear shared position on EPF withdrawal timing. They described this as the first time they had approached their finances as a joint project rather than two separate efforts.

The Situation

A blended Muslim family with three adult children

A widower in his mid-50s from Kuala Kangsar had remarried and had children from both marriages. He was acutely aware that faraid would distribute his estate in a way that might not reflect his intentions, and he had heard of hibah but was unclear on the practical steps.

The Programme

Succession and Hibah, with combined sessions

He enrolled in the Succession and Hibah programme and used all three combined sessions β€” two focused on the hibah structure for his specific asset mix, and one on beneficiary nominations for EPF and insurance across his two families.

The Outcome

A hibah structure in place, and a succession file completed

Following the programme and professional sessions, he worked with his own lawyer to execute the hibah arrangements that had been identified during the course. He also completed a succession file covering all his assets, policies, and wishes β€” something his previous estate planning discussions had never produced.

The Situation

A self-employed professional approaching 55

A 52-year-old consultant from Sitiawan had a higher-than-average EPF balance β€” accumulated during earlier employment β€” but had been self-employed for the past eight years and was uncertain how her reduced contributions would affect her withdrawal options at 55.

The Programme

EPF Strategy β€” with a focus on the self-employed position

She completed the EPF Strategy programme and used both planner sessions to focus specifically on the implications of reduced contributions in her final working years and the interaction between her EPF balance and her expected consulting income into her 60s.

The Outcome

A staggered withdrawal plan that matched her income pattern

She left with a clear understanding of her withdrawal options and a staggered plan that aligned with her expected income pattern as a self-employed person. She described the planner sessions as "the most practically useful hour I have spent on my finances in years."
